In Session This Week: Man on Earth, Julia Jones and King Krone’s AM Gold

Indie Studio Drummer - World-Class Drum Tracks for Independent Artists

A week of widely-varied and very interesting projects:

First of all, cut a track for Steven Nathan of Man on Earth.  Man on Earth is in the process of blowing up (Matt Pinfield says they’re “a band worth definitely checking out!”), and it was really cool to work with Steven – great songwriter, and an incredibly cool dude.  The song was a demo for a new project and called for big, brash rock drums – very fun to play.  Plus, it’s quite an honor to work with anyone who’s worked with Dr. Fink of Prince and the Revolution!

Next up on the agenda, recording with Welsh singer/songwriter Julia Jones.  I’ve worked…… with Julia for several years, performing and recording in the States and UK, and crossing the US in an old British double-decker bus as part of the BritBus Tour (sponsored by Fuller’s London Pride beer – nice benefit!).  Great fun to collaborate across the Atlantic Ocean on Julia’s new material, and I’m looking forward to meeting up in person again this May when I’m back in the UK on tour with two indie Rock groups (Setting Sun and Quitzow).  Cheers, Miss Jones!

Finally, great stuff from King Krone’s AM Gold, featuring Johnny Socko founder Charlie Krone.  The project is called Eulogy, and in Charlie’s words, “The idea is that I would write lyrics that would tell a story that I might say at someone’s funeral if I were delivering a eulogy, and build tunes around them.  It has proven to be both inspiring and therapeutic.”  I can attest that it’s powerful stuff, and damn catchy (as the band’s genre description of “Rock / AM Gold / One-Hit Wonders” will indicate).
