In Session This Week – Tam Lin Music and Bouncy Cassette

Two radically different projects this week, both great fun!

From my old home town of Bloomington, Indiana comes Bouncy Cassette, a damn fine project from the twisted mind of Brian Chauncey.  The track is “Rollerskate,” and it was a great chance to brush off my Disco/R&B chops, clean the rust off the Agogo bells, and (attempt to) skate!  Jake at Farm Fresh Studios did a nice mix of the tune, too.  Look for more funky jams from Chauncey and the Bouncy Cassette crew soon!

I’ve had the pleasure of performing live with Brooklyn’s Tam Lin several times over the past few years, and was thrilled to work together in the studio for the first time.  The tune was “Ship of Light,” and it’s beautiful!  Very soothing yet haunting, somewhat Dylan-esque (Bob Dylan, that is, not me).  I’m always happy to replace programmed drums with live parts played by an actual human being, too – it’s one of the reasons we started Indie Studio Drummer in the first place!
