So, the official word came in – I believe I will be heard playing drums on Kanye West’s upcoming single “Power,” due out shortly (full album by the same name due in September). I recreated a King Crimson sample for producer Ken Lewis (who you may hear singing on the track as well). I’ll be watching the news like a hawk, and of course will post when the track hits radio!

My job was to recreate a sample from King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man” – matching exactly the tuning and performance of a specific fill from the song. All engineering and performance for the drum part was handled in my Hoboken studio; uber producer Ken Lewis handled the heavy lifting for the rest of the track  (he’s a master at this stuff). It’s amazing just how much work goes into a sample recreation – my part of it took about seven hours, and I don’t think Ken slept for about three days!
